87 Pizza & Donair
The Donair Pizza from 87 Pizza & Donair was a disappointing experience overall. While the box design, complete with a sticker and fun artwork, hinted at a more polished product, the pizza itself didn’t deliver. The thick tomato slices were uneven, overly ripe, and prone to sliding off the pizza, which made eating it messy and frustrating. Coupled with excessive onion layers, including some crunchy outer bits, the balance of flavours was off. The donair meat was forgettable and didn’t bring enough flavour to carry the dish.
The sweet sauce, which leaned heavily on what we can only assume may be cinnamon, added an odd dessert-like quality that felt out of place in a donair pizza. The lack of an additional drizzle of sauce left the pizza dry, which only highlighted the absence of fresh, cohesive ingredients. Structurally, the pizza struggled to stay intact, with toppings frequently shifting or falling off.
At nearly double the price of similar pizzas, it’s hard to justify the cost. While it might be acceptable at a casual party, it’s not something I’d recommend to someone seeking a great pizza. For the price and the lackluster execution, it falls far short of expectations.
